Booking Specialized Transit Services

Unlike Conventional Transit, Specialized Transit Service works on a pre-booked shared-ride schedule. This means that anyone registered for the service can call in and book a trip up to 3 days in advance (see chart below) of when they would like to go.

All such bookings are made on a “first come, first served” basis. A customer of the service can book a trip for any purpose, however because of the busy weekday schedule in the mornings and late afternoons, we ask that people schedule personal trips in non-peak hours (10:00am – 2:30pm).

Permanent Booking Arrangements

Permanent booking arrangements for service may be requested for persons who will be traveling on a regular pre-determined basis to or from a destination such as work or post-secondary school or certain medical purposes. In addition, one personal permanent booking may be requested. These types of bookings are called subscription bookings.

To arrange for this type of booking, you need to call and request it through the LCTB office. Unfortunately, we cannot always accommodate all requests since there is a limit to the spaces available.

Please note: All subscription bookings that fall on a Statutory Holiday will be considered cancelled by the service provider unless otherwise notified by the customer.

Cancellations

Cancel any trip that has been scheduled that you do not wish to use as far in advance as possible.

Scheduled trips not cancelled at least 3 hours before the scheduled pick-up time will be recorded as a late cancellation.

Scheduled trips not cancelled at least one-half hour before the schedule pick-up time will be recorded as a no-show.

Excessive late cancellations and/or no-shows could result in suspension of an individual’s registration.

Booking by a Third Party

People who support registered customers may make bookings, modifications, or cancel trips, provided they have the proper registration number for that customer. The procedure is based upon the understanding that all such bookings, modifications, or cancellations are the sole responsibility of the registered customer.
