Getting Started
- Open your cell phones App Store (Apple Store or Google Play)
- Search for Transit App
- Download Transit App
Plan a Trip
- Tap in the Search Bar
- Enter your destination
- TIP: You can enter an address, select a point on the map, select a favourited location saved before
- Select the search result you want
- You can change your starting point by tapping on Current Location and entering where you will commence your trip from. Additionally, you can change your trip from Leaving Now to a Depart At or Arrive By option and change the time and date if you are planning ahead
- Review the transit options available
- Select a trip to see more details – such as wait times or walking distances
- Tap GO to begin your trip
- By selecting GO you will be given step by step instructions and notifications (if you have notifications turned on for the app) for when to leave to catch the bus, disembark and transfer if necessary
Getting Live Information
- Check the departure time or bus icon for ‘two waves’ to indicate live arrival time information
- Live arrival information will show for the next few departure times as well
- Greyed out arrival times without waves indicate scheduled times showing
- Time crossed through with “Skip This Stop” means the route you have selected will skip that stop due to a detour or stop closure
- Time crossed out with “Cancelled” means for an unforeseen reason the bus for that route has been cancelled and will not arrive at the stop
- Crowding information is will be displayed on the ETA card letting you know how full the bus is
- Detours are displayed including routing in relative real-time however, this is still in a trial phase so be sure to continue check the Detours & Stop Closures page (link)
Tips & Tricks for Using Transit App
- Turn on notifications so you get the full benefits of the GO feature
- To change the direction of the route you are considering swipe to the left or right
- Save common travel addresses like work and home for quick destination inputs
- Check a current route schedule in the app by search for the route and tapping for more departures. Live arrival information will show for what is available day of and will show scheduled times there after
