Route 1 Changes

Current Routing

Proposed Routing

Routing changes are being proposed to straighten Route 1. This allows for faster run-times for passengers travelling through the areas being straightened. It also requires fewer buses to serve the Route, allowing resources to be reallocated to other areas of the network to increase frequency.

Proposed changes would include Route 1 not travelling on Richmond St. but instead use Colborne between Cheapside St. and Dufferin Ave., to Regent and William, to access the Huron & Kipps Ln area.

Southbound, Route 1 is proposed to operate on Horton St, Colborne St and Grey St. through the SoHo area. The northbound routing in this area would remain the same.

North of Victoria Hospital, the Route would avoid the Rowntree Park neighbourhood, removing service along Fairview, Alexandra, Raywood, Trevithen and Bond, instead operating along Wellington Rd. and Base Line Rd.
